Lawyers play a significant role in locating Wills, but this process isn’t always easy, even for a lawyer who specialises in Probate and Estate matters.

Many clients entrust their Wills to their legal representative for safekeeping. Firms maintain these records until such time as they may be needed by a family member, an Executor or Trustee, or someone who has an interest in an inheritance.

If you have been appointed by your client as the Executor of their Will, you are likely to have a copy of the Will or information about its whereabouts, which is a perfect scenario. However, if you are not the Executor and you need to locate a Will, obtaining access can be very tedious, time consuming and a manual process.

This is where Will Trace, InfoTrack’s digital service for Will records, can help. By using this estate service, you will reduce the time and money your firm spends on identifying probate opportunities.

How does it work?

Step 1: Sync your matters that you want included in Will Trace

Step 2: Access Will Trace when your client passes away
Once your Will names are synced, you will have full access to the service. This allows you to use Will Trace to help you locate a will registered by other Australian and New Zealand firms, as well as Death and Probate notices.
When you choose to sync your firm’s Will records, you also gain knowledge to millions of Will location records you do not hold at your firm.
You are also eligible to be matched with individuals who are trying to find a Will record for a relative or person of interest.
